Alexandre Dumas, Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles and many other artists have described, in their works or writings, the strong sensations provoked by their discovery of the town of Ronda, in Spain. Weighty with a complex history rich in numerous influences, the town and its well-preserved surroundings are also highly picturesque. Here, things are like nowhere else; everything is strangely poetic, dreamlike, almost supernatural. A few kilometres from the historic centre, in countryside far from crowds and urban bustle, Rasero Retreat is a peaceful and serene place to retreat, an ideal pied-à-terre for this part of the Marbella hinterland.
The Retreat offers an old-world Spain of modern comforts, a grand hacienda of five-star amenities – a new standard for bespoke luxury, as only Andalusia can promise. It is here, within the sun-drenched interiors of an authentic estate, that underfloor heating unrolls underfoot, that lighting and temperature are controlled by a domotics system, that a gourmet kitchen offers top-of-the-range appliances, that Airplay sound booms from integrated speakers, that lightning-fast WiFi speeds out to the pool. This seven-bedroom estate unfolds over 800 spacious square-metres (8,600 square-feet) of romantic cortijo, standing proud over the most scenic countryside in Andalusia: the green, rolling hills of Ronda, grassy fields alive with galloping horses, and, further, the jagged and timeworn peaks of the Sierra Nevadas. During your stay, a lovely housekeeper and property manager are on hand to ensure your comfort. Once you enter the gated property, you’ll feel like you’re in your own private boutique hotel, complete with an infinity pool and hot tub, soothing water features, a children’s play area. Spend the day exploring by bicycle or lounging on the terrace by the pool, then try out Spanish cuisine on the barbecue or in the wood-fired oven. The stunning interiors of Ronda Mountain Resort blend traditional architecture with modern furnishings, creating sophisticated yet comfortable spaces where the whole family can relax. Patterned tile floors, beamed ceilings, dark wood trim and a stately fireplace show off the villa’s heritage, while a leather sectional, glass-topped coffee and dining tables and wicker-backed dining chairs feel contemporary and inviting. The fully equipped kitchen is particularly welcoming, thanks to a large farmhouse-style breakfast table. While you could spend your stay at the villa, simply watching the light move across the landscape, it’s well worth exploring the region. Spend a day marveling at the scenery in one of the two nearby national parks or visit the city of Ronda to see the old city and the dramatic ravine or enjoy a honeymoon-worthy dinner with spectacular hilltop views. Take a day trip to Seville for incredible architecture and equally memorable flamenco performances, to oceanfront Malaga for its museums or to Marbella and the beaches of the Costa del Sol if you’re in need of sand and sun or a round of golf. Phenomenal experience – the house, pool and view are better than pictures even indicate. The hospitality was fabulous. Very well built A+ accommodations. The People were delightful along with their 2 friendly dogs added to the welcome ambience. We had some meals prepared that were 4 star!
Rio Verde in Puerto Banus is great! We really enjoyed our stay here, and especially the outdoor space. Great location, with easy access to everything. Good communication, and quick replies to any of our questions. Thank you!
The team of Marbella Mountain Resorts has understood all of our needs. We were a group of executives who wanted to play golf and enjoy a week of holidays with all kinds of 5 star services.
It has been one of the best decisions we have ever taken. It was the first time we rented a Villa to spend our family and we really did not know the Marbella Mountain Resorts company. I have to say that we are impressed with the professional and friendly service we have received from all the team. It has been like being in a 5 star hotel but exclusively!
Villa Mirador is an exclusive property with panoramic views of the sea and Marbella. The employees of the house are super attentive and grateful although they do not speak much English, we understand each other. Alfonso and Carmen have been able to anticipate all our needs by organizing every detail of our vacations months before arrival.
We have spent a wonderful family vacation in Villa Zagala. The Villa is like a country lodge retreat surrounded by nature and good energy. The sunset is just spectacular. Huge pool where to swim and spend the whole day relaxing at the chill out.
I never thought this place was going to surprise me the way it did, a beautiful setting and facilities to match any 5-star hotel.
This is a very special place. A very peaceful and luxurious property. We had the opportunity to stay one night in Serrano Cottage and one night in the main house. The grounds and facilities are second to none. Luis knows what the word hospitality is all about. Anna is wonderful, she will assist with anything you need. The property is close to Ronda so one can enjoy the history of the town but have a place to retreat to to unwind and relax. The pool and jacuzzi are a wonderful amenity to enjoy while relaxing and decompressing. This is a MUST stay should you be planning a trip to Spain. We will definitely return.
We fell immediately in love with this place, difficult to find but with the foto description they sent us, it was a lot easier. Completely away from the crowded tourist spots it is a place to relax and enjoy the sunset above Ronda during dinner. Luis, the owner, makes you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive. With only six rooms you can use the villa as if it is your own. They are just new, so it’s still a good time to go, I guess booking will be more difficult when popularity grows. Great pool too! Organic food, home made from local farmers.
If you’re travelling to this part of Spain don’t miss the magical town of Ronda.
It’s worth the journey.
Spectacular views of the old town, nestled on top of the cliffs, are only part of its attraction.
Make sure to leave the busy main streets and explore the back alleys – cafés aplenty and the local musicians play on weekends.
It’s an incredible place and well worth the effort to get there on winding mountainous roads.
Make sure to stop at the ‘Look Outs’ on the way & bring your camera.
My husband and I ended up at the Resort after making an unexpectedly extended trip to Ronda on our honeymoon. It was a highlight of our trip! Luis was charming, personable and so attentive. Anna’s cuisine was spectacular. We loved our stay and could not believe our luck to find this romantic, charming accommodation. Thank you for making our once in a lifetime trip a t amazing memory.
We returned to Ronda Mountain Resort this May after we’d decided to host our festival-style wedding there. We had our closest friends stay with us on site – and everyone was blown away by every aspect of the villa. It has one of the most astounding views you’ll ever get at a villa – the sun sets every evening in-between the mountains and over the old town of Ronda, and you can enjoy it from the comfort of the hot tub.
We looked at many villas in the area when we were trying to find a venue and this one stood out as it wasn’t your usual dusty and dated Spanish villa. The interiors are all recently refurbed and tastefully done out with some beautiful bits of furniture. The housekeepers Juan and Anna, who live in a small cottage on site, are always there to help, tidy, light the fire, inflate giant swans for the pool and cook (if required) – but they do so very subtley and insconspicuously.
We have just returned from a week at the resort – a party of 11 family and friends.
It has been one of the best properties we have ever rented (this is number 7). The location is spectacular, 15 mins from Ronda, in the middle of stunning countryside. It is very remote, and the roads into Ronda are small and winding, but to me the seclusion was part of the attraction of this particular property.
The villa itself is beautiful – well decorated and maintained, very comfortable living areas, very well equipped kitchens and bathrooms, comfortable beds, a good audio system to stream music around the house, and plenty of spaces such as the library to relax out of the heat in peace and quiet. The view from the terrace from sunrise to sunset towards Ronda over the olive groves and vineyards is just breathtaking.
Many rental properties never manage somehow to feel anything like home – this one most definitely did. It is not only somewhere I would recommend to groups who wish to relax in comfort in a beautiful property, but somewhere that I very much hope to return to again in the future.
I have been visiting this resort last week, the weather was warm, so we could enjoy swiming pool. The place is stunning surrounded by mountains. City is close enough to visit for shopping, but far enough to enjoy privacy or have a little party. 🙂
How can I describe how amazing this place is ! Our daughter held her wedding here and we stayed for a week. Everything is incredible from the hospitality of Louis and the team to the standard of accommodation to the sunsets and vistas that are to die for. The house is stunning the location down a winding track that’s not too bad is isolated but not lonely – you can easily visit Ronda which is a lovely city. Rooms glamorous and luxurious space to get away from everyone if you need to but ultimately the perfect location for a wedding with a week of sumptuous blue skies and peace and quiet before and after. I’d stay again in a heartbeat!
You must visit this Spanish town in the mountains. It is a historical walled city purched at the top of a beautiful mountain range with wonderful views an vistas. It has an amazing view from the bridge entering the city – I will not try to explain but leave you to view as a surprise – not to be missed. It is also a bustling city with streets and streets of shopping and eating areas and is famous for its shoe shops…. Husbands Beware!!!
We hired this resort for a family wedding in September 2017 and cannot say enough praiseworthy things about the whole experience. This is a luxurious villa that gave all our guests (about 120 on the day of the wedding) a taste of the dream life and an introduction to beautiful Andulucia. The magical setting of the mountain resort helped the families of the bride and groom get to know each other more intimately over the days leading up to the wedding.
The owner and staff treated everyone with the utmost respect and dignity. We are all left with beautiful memories of the wedding and the place itself. The other reviewers have provided more specific details, all of which I agree with, but all in all this was a perfect place for a wedding and whetted an appetite for seeing more of Spain.
The Ronda home “Rasero Retreat” is an outstanding home and overall experience. We have stayed in many luxury homes around the world, and this estate home is architecturally stunning, tastefully furnished and very comfortable for a large family holiday. The owners did a wonderful job conceiving and building a home that leverages the beauty of the countryside. Ana and Juan – the staff – are gracious and accommodating, making us feel welcome and well looked after throughout our week. The morning breakfast setup is perfect. The daily housekeeping and grounds maintenance made it completely carefree. We would highly recommend the home to others.
The villa was excellent and all the arrangements went like clockwork. Everyone involved was friendly, helpful and professional. A truly memorable holiday.
Our Holiday in Villa Palo Alto was just amazing. The advanced planning and organization was very well done. We had no reservations and could look forward to the holiday. Luxury Retreats and the villa manager welcomed us very nicely. The villa is absolutely stunning, also the people around. The activities like Caminito our personal trainer, yoga teacher or massage were highlights.
