Puente Nuevo is its most important tourist attraction as it offers some unforgettable views over the Tajo gorge and is definitely the emblem of the Ronda village in the postcards. Completed in 1783 after more than forty years os construction, it connects up El Mercadillo (the little market) which is the newest part of town, with La Ciudad (The Town) which is the old Moorish quarter, which is breathtaking behold. So dangerous was its construction that 50 workers lost their lives in the process. But Puente Nuevo is not the only worthy bridge to visit in Ronda. The are two more bridges crossing El Tajo gorge; Puente Viejo (the old birdge) and the Puente Romano (Romans Bridge).

Ronda is the birthplace of the modern Spanish bullfight and the hometown of its greatest dynasty. It was here, during the 18th century, that Francisco Romero faced the bull on foot for the first time, rather on horseback. Fitting to the importance go the bullfight tradition in Ronda, the town owns a beautiful bullring with an elegant, neo-classical style from 1785, which is the oldest and most picturesque one in Spain located behind the Puente Nuevo and can hold up to 5000 spectators, built by the same architect who build Puente Nuevo, José Martin e Aldehuela. There is a museum and guided audio tours around the bullfighting ring should you be interested on learning more about this ancient Spanish tradition.

The view point of Alahuela offer some of the most breathtaking views of the gorge, Puente Nuevo and the countryside around Ronda. All along the Paseo E Hemingway (E Hemingway walk) visitors will pass hanging balconies over the edge of the Tajo Gorge, ones of the most surprising spots in Ronda. You should not miss the Balcón del Coño viewpoint with spectacular views too.

Not all is about culture un Ronda, it also has a very important historical scenery of fantastic wineries. It’s an ideal area for a wine route to enjoy its delicious reds and it is a great way to spend the morning.

Ronda is home for the best preserved Arabic Baths in Spain built towards the 13th century. They are arranged as the Roman Bath, including a hot, warm and cold zone managed by an hydraulic system which is almost intact nowadays. Those baths are located in the old Arab quarter of the city know as the San Miguel district.

Originally built in 1314 by the Moorish King Abmelik, this Palace gives today place to the Ronda Municipal Museum, which is devoted to Ronda’s rich culture and history with some examples of Romand and Arab tombs, and it is surrounded by outstanding beautiful gardens with beautiful views over the old town.

Ronda has been throughout history, one of the most impenetrable cities in Andalusia. Largely thank to its geographical position, but also thanks to the city walls and gates which were built by the Moors throughout the Islamic era. In Muslim times, the Puerta Almocabar was the main entrance to the city with the largest entrance gate. Other ancient walls can also be found in Ronda, such as Cijara Gate, Albacara walls, Puerta de los Molinos and Puerto del Viento to mention a few of them.

Is Ronda’s most picturesque square. Where Santa Maria del Mayor church is its main highlight which took over 200 years to build and is a mixture of gothic and Renaissance styles. Other worth squares to visit might be Plaza Nuestra Señora del Socorro square and the one located in front of the Almocabar Gate which is the political centre of Ronda, that has some restaurant and bar terraces that makes it to an ideal place to enjoy a break at the end of a long day of visits.
